Rishab Shetty has shared an exciting update for fans of the Kantara franchise. Even before the release of the next chapter, the actor-director has confirmed that he and his writing team have already begun developing the third installment in the acclaimed series.
Rishab Shetty confirms writing work on the next Kantara film
In an interview with Variety India, Rishab revealed that he has already started working on the script for the film that will follow Kantara: Chapter 2.
“I need to do that. I cannot keep quiet about my directorial work. I find peace of mind and happiness when I am doing it. I have my team of writers with me, and we are already working on Kantara: Chapter 2,” he said, referring to the next installment in the franchise.
The filmmaker also spoke about balancing his acting and directing commitments, explaining that he prefers focusing on one project at a time.
“I have two films lined up back to back. I cannot multitask and do two films simultaneously, so it will be Jai Hanuman followed by The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Both films require me to maintain distinct looks,” he added.
Rishab Shetty’s upcoming films
Rishab was last seen in Kantara: Chapter 1, which served as a prequel to the original Kantara. The film explored the origins of the conflict between a royal dynasty and the people of Kantara, while expanding the mythology surrounding the divine spirits Panjurli Daiva and Guliga Daiva.
The film also featured Jayaram, Rukmini Vasanth, Gulshan Devaiah, Pramod Shetty, Rakesh Poojari, and Prakash Thuminad in pivotal roles.
Next, Rishab will headline Jai Hanuman, director Prasanth Varma’s ambitious pan-India fantasy film, in which he plays Lord Hanuman. He will then portray Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
With the writing process for the next Kantara film already underway, it appears Rishab Shetty is committed to expanding the franchise for years to come.
