Chiranjeevi is turning 71 on August 22, 2026. As the Megastar celebrates his birthday, details have emerged about a potential collaboration he once planned with Sardar 2 director PS Mithran.
PS Mithran reveals plans to work with Chiranjeevi
In an interview with Cinema Vikatan, PS Mithran revealed that he was originally expected to collaborate with Chiranjeevi after Vishwambhara. The filmmaker had narrated a story to the actor, but the project eventually stalled because their schedules could not be worked out.
Mithran further clarified that the script he later narrated to Yash is entirely different from the one he had developed for Chiranjeevi. According to the director, the Chiranjeevi script is still with him, suggesting that the proposed collaboration could potentially be revived in the future.
The project was reportedly being planned under KVN Productions, the banner currently backing Chiranjeevi’s Kaaka (Mega158).
Meanwhile, PS Mithran is gearing up for the release of Sardar 2, the sequel to the 2022 espionage thriller Sardar. Karthi returns in his dual roles as Vijay Prakash and Chandra Bose, aka Sardar, while SJ Suryah takes on the role of antagonist Black Dagger. The film is scheduled to hit theatres on September 10, 2026.
Malavika Mohanan, Ashika Ranganath and Rajisha Vijayan are also part of the cast. The first instalment revolved around police officer Vijay Prakash, who discovers the truth about his father, an intelligence officer branded a traitor after sacrificing his reputation to safeguard the country.
