Several reports claim that the Bollywood star could be filming a cameo appearance for the action drama. However, the production team has not yet issued any official confirmation regarding the same.
More About Jailer 2
Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Jailer 2 serves as the sequel to the blockbuster Jailer, with Rajinikanth returning as Muthuvel Pandian. The story is expected to pick up from where the first installment left off and further explore the iconic character’s journey.
The ensemble cast includes Mithun Chakraborty, Vidya Balan, SJ Suryah, and Suraj Venjaramoodu in important roles. Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar are also reportedly set to reprise their popular characters from the original film.
Although the makers have not officially locked a release date, industry reports indicate that the film may arrive in cinemas on September 11, 2026, or potentially during the Diwali festive season.
Earlier, rumors suggested that Shah Rukh Khan was being considered for the cameo role. However, due to his shooting commitments for King, he was reportedly unable to accommodate the project. Following that development, reports emerged that the team had approached Hrithik Roshan for the special appearance.
Rajinikanth’s Upcoming Projects
Apart from Jailer 2, Rajinikanth is expected to headline the tentatively titled Thalaivar 173. The film is being jointly produced by Kamal Haasan under the Raaj Kamal Films International banner.
While initial reports linked Sundar C to the project as director, later updates pointed to Cibi Chakravarthi taking charge. More recently, reports have claimed that Dragon director Ashwath Marimuthu may helm the venture, though an official announcement is still awaited.
Rajinikanth is also likely to reunite with Kamal Haasan for the tentatively titled KHxRK Reunion. The project is reportedly being directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, with Anirudh Ravichander already confirmed to compose the soundtrack and background score.
