About Kalki 2898 AD
The story of Kalki 2898 AD begins in the aftermath of the Kurukshetra War from the Mahabharata, marking the beginning of Kali Yuga in 3102 BC. Before departing, Lord Krishna entrusts Ashwatthama with the responsibility of protecting Lord Vishnu’s final avatar when the destined time arrives.
Fast-forward nearly 6,000 years to the year 2898 AD, where humanity survives in a dystopian world dominated by Supreme Yaskin, a ruler who governs through fear and absolute control. While many seek refuge within his prosperous kingdom known as the Complex, others rebel against his oppressive regime.
The narrative gains momentum when Sumathi, also known as SUM-80, becomes the carrier of an unborn child believed to be humanity’s last hope. As Yaskin and his forces attempt to harness the child’s power, a battle unfolds that sets the foundation for the larger saga.
The first film featured Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan in pivotal roles. While reports claim that Deepika Padukone may not return for the sequel, speculation continues that Sai Pallavi could join the cast. However, no official confirmation has been made regarding the casting.
