Thalapathy Vijay’s son Jason Sanjay is gearing up to make his directorial debut with Sundeep Kishan’s Sigma, which is scheduled to hit cinemas on October 2, 2026. As the film’s release approaches, Jason has addressed speculation about whether he could eventually step into acting or remain focused on filmmaking.
Jason Sanjay talks about entering acting
During a conversation with SS Music, Jason Sanjay revealed that his immediate priority is Sigma and that he does not want anything to distract him from the project. He said the film is a major opportunity for him and that he would consider acting if an exciting offer comes his way after its release.
Jason also shared that if he eventually becomes an actor, he would prefer starting with romantic comedies because the genre would allow him to present himself naturally. He added that he is particularly interested in science fiction and would like to explore that genre later in his acting career.
Written and directed by Jason Sanjay, Sigma is described as an action-adventure comedy revolving around a lone-wolf protagonist who refuses to conform to societal expectations. The story follows his pursuit of a hidden treasure, leading him into a world of risky heists and high-stakes situations.
Lyca Productions is backing the project, while Thaman S has composed the music. Sundeep Kishan headlines the film, with Faria Abdullah, Raju Sundaram, Anbu Thasan, Yog Japee, Sampath Raj, Kiran Konda and Magalakshmi Sudharsanan also part of the cast. Catherine Tresa is reportedly associated with the project as well.
Sigma was originally scheduled to release on July 31, 2026, but the makers later shifted its theatrical release to October 2. Two songs composed by Thaman S have already been released.
Thalapathy Vijay’s final film
Thalapathy Vijay was last seen in Jana Nayagan, which marked his final film before stepping away from Tamil cinema. Directed by H. Vinoth, the action drama revolves around a former officer who takes responsibility for raising a young girl while working to fulfil her biological father’s final wish of getting her officially recognised.
The story explores the bond between the man and his foster daughter while gradually revealing how his past influences their future. Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, Bobby Deol and others also feature in important roles. The film is currently available to stream on ZEE5.
