Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, headlined by Yash, is set to hit theatres on August 26, 2026. During the film’s pre-release event in Chennai, director and Nayanthara’s husband Vignesh Shivan looked back on his first meeting with Kiara Advani and jokingly suggested that she was fortunate to have turned down one of his films.
Vignesh Shivan says Kiara Advani was ‘lucky’ to reject Love Insurance Kompany
Speaking at the Toxic event, Vignesh Shivan recalled meeting Kiara Advani before Kabir Singh to narrate a script. He revealed that the project eventually became his sci-fi romantic comedy Love Insurance Kompany (LIK), and jokingly told the actress that she was “lucky” she did not take up the film.
The filmmaker was referring to his recent directorial Love Insurance Kompany, which stars Pradeep Ranganathan and Krithi Shetty. Set in the year 2040, the film revolves around Vaibhav Vasudevan, a man who believes love should be spontaneous in a world where an advanced dating application determines romantic compatibility.
Vaibhav falls for Dheema, who has complete faith in the system. When the app determines that the two are incompatible, he decides to challenge the technology and its idea that love can be predicted and quantified.
As Dheema finds herself torn between the system’s rules and her feelings, the film explores whether technology can truly dictate matters of the heart.
The movie also features SJ Suryah, Yogi Babu, Seeman, Gouri G. Kishan, Shah Ra, Malavika and others. Despite its ambitious premise, Love Insurance Kompany received mixed reactions and underperformed at the box office.
