Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s latest film, Maa Inti Bangaaram, has crossed the Rs 100 crore milestone at the global box office. Amid the film’s impressive success, the actress reflects on the significant changes shaping both her personal and professional life. In this exclusive conversation, Samantha speaks about the legacy she hopes to leave behind, the importance of connecting with audiences, and the exciting new chapter she’s preparing to embrace—motherhood, as she awaits her first child with Raj Nidimoru.

Q. Over the years, you’ve evolved tremendously as both an actor and an individual. When people look back at your journey two decades from now, what do you hope they’ll remember you for?

Samantha: Twenty years from now, if someone watches one of my films and walks away feeling inspired, hopeful, joyful, or even a little braver, that would mean much more to me than awards or box office numbers. I want to be remembered as someone who wasn’t afraid to experiment, who believed in meaningful stories, and who chose to step beyond her comfort zone. If my work has played even a small role in making cinema more inclusive and creating opportunities for the next generation, I would consider that a legacy worth cherishing.

Q. At this point in your career, what excites you more—the creative process of becoming a character or the impact your films have after they reach audiences?

Samantha: I don’t really separate the two because they’re deeply connected. The creative journey is where I find the greatest satisfaction. Exploring a character, understanding their emotions and experiences, and gradually transforming into them is something I truly enjoy. That’s what keeps drawing me back to acting. But films are ultimately meant to be experienced by people. A performance only feels complete when it resonates with the audience. When someone relates to a character, sees a reflection of themselves in a story, or leaves the theatre feeling happier, emotional, inspired, or entertained, that’s when everything comes full circle. If I had to choose, I’d say the process fuels my passion, while the audience’s response gives that passion its true purpose. Maybe I’m a little greedy because I want both.

Q. Congratulations on entering this beautiful new chapter of your life. Motherhood is often described as life-changing. How would you describe what you’re experiencing, and how has it influenced your outlook on the future?

Samantha: Thank you. It’s a completely new and exciting phase, and honestly, it’s something I’ve been looking forward to for a long time. Becoming a mother has always been one of my biggest dreams, so I know I’ll give it everything I have. I’ve always approached every stage of my life with passion, but now I feel a different kind of strength and purpose within me. I’m genuinely excited about this journey, deeply grateful for everything that’s unfolding, learning something new every day, and preparing myself with an open heart for all that’s ahead.
