On Suriya’s 50th birthday, here’s a look at five times Jyotika spoke warmly about her husband and praised his support, partnership, and dedication to their family.
5 Times Jyotika Praised Suriya
Jyotika has often opened up about her relationship with Suriya in interviews, highlighting how their partnership and mutual support have shaped both their personal and professional lives.
1. Balancing Careers and Responsibilities
In a candid interview with Zoom TV, Jyotika emphasized that their marriage is not about Suriya simply supporting her career. Instead, she described their relationship as one built on mutual understanding and balance.
She said, “I think a marriage is all about balance. And it’s not about just him supporting me. It’s also about me supporting him when he leaves for work and I take care of the house. I choose to do lesser work. I choose to sit back when it’s important. And he sits back when I have to leave for an outdoor schedule.”
2. Sharing Parenting Responsibilities
Speaking about how she and Suriya manage their responsibilities as parents to their children, Diya and Dev, Jyotika explained that they coordinate their schedules to ensure that one of them is always available for the family.
“There’s always one of us with the kids. So, I think a marriage has to be hand in glove. It has to work in a balanced way,” she said.
3. Their ‘Good Cop, Bad Cop’ Parenting Dynamic
In an interview with ParentCircle, Jyotika revealed the fun dynamic she and Suriya share as parents. While she considers herself the stricter one, she described Suriya as the more indulgent parent.
“I’m the bad cop. Suriya is the one who allows them to do whatever they like. It is always the mothers, right? I’m the one with the rulebook. He is the ‘good’ one,” she said.
4. Praising the Love and Respect He Gives Her
In interviews with Galatta and Behindwoods, Jyotika opened up about why she decided to marry Suriya. She revealed that the respect he showed her played a major role in their relationship.
“The reason I decided that I wanted Suriya for myself was the respect he gave me. We first came together in the film Poovellam Kettuppar. He spoke to me very casually. That appealed to me a lot,” she said.
She also praised the way Suriya conducted himself professionally, particularly when filming romantic scenes.
“When a director explains a romantic scene involving the heroine, Suriya acts only to the extent the director desires. He doesn’t take undue advantage,” Jyotika said.
5. Being a Hands-On Partner and Father
Jyotika has also frequently praised Suriya for being an involved and hands-on partner when it comes to family life. Speaking to ParentCircle, she revealed that the actor makes a conscious effort to spend time with their children whenever he is not working.
According to Jyotika, Suriya tries not to schedule shoots on Sundays, attends important school events, and has never missed their children’s sports days or annual days. She also revealed that he spends time with the children, puts them to sleep, and actively participates in their everyday lives.
“Other than the work time, he is always around for the children, puts them to sleep, cares for them,” she said.
