Ramayana, featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi in the lead roles, is scheduled to release across Indian theatres on November 8, 2026, during the Diwali festive period. However, the much-awaited epic will reportedly reach international audiences two days earlier.
Ramayana to premiere overseas ahead of India
Speaking to NDTV, producer Namit Malhotra confirmed that Ramayana will follow separate release dates for India and international markets. He explained that the film will open internationally on November 6 because overseas distribution follows a Friday release pattern, while the team is targeting November 8 for its Indian theatrical debut during Diwali.
The makers recently unveiled the much-awaited trailer, offering a detailed glimpse into the epic’s narrative. The trailer opens with Yash’s Ravana declaring himself the ruler of the three worlds before his actions unleash widespread destruction. In response, Lord Vishnu takes the form of Ram, portrayed by Ranbir Kapoor, to restore balance and protect humanity.
The trailer then traces Ram’s journey as he battles evil forces, protects his people and eventually marries Sita. However, his life takes a dramatic turn when he is sent into a 14-year exile. Sita, played by Sai Pallavi, and Lakshman, portrayed by Ravi Dubey, choose to accompany him.
The story takes a darker turn when Ravana abducts Sita, leading to the legendary conflict between Ram and Ravana and setting the stage for an epic battle between good and evil.
Ramayana boasts an ensemble cast
Alongside Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi, the film features several prominent actors in important roles. The cast includes Sunny Deol, Rakul Preet Singh, Kajal Aggarwal, Shobana, Arun Govil, Lara Dutta, Vivek Oberoi, Sonal Jha, Seeba Chaddha, Adinath Kothare, Nitish Bharadwaj, Shishir Sharma, Ajinkya Deo and others.
The makers have also released an English-dubbed version of the trailer for international audiences. The international trailer officially confirms the November 6, 2026 release date.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is planned as a two-part epic mounted on a massive scale. While Part One is scheduled to arrive during Diwali 2026, the second installment is expected to release during Diwali 2027.
