Jailer 2, starring Rajinikanth as the iconic Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, is gearing up for its theatrical release on October 15, 2026. Ahead of the Dussehra release, the makers have announced that the film’s much-awaited first single will be unveiled on August 21, 2026.
Jailer 2 first single to release on August 21
The makers announced the update on social media, writing, “The Feast is ready! Jailer 2 First Single releasing on August 21.” The announcement was accompanied by a new poster featuring Rajinikanth in his popular Muthuvel Pandian avatar, with celebrations taking place in the backdrop.
Jailer 2 promises a bigger challenge for Muthuvel Pandian
The makers recently released a 55-second promo ahead of the film’s Dussehra arrival. The glimpse picks up from the events of the first Jailer, with Vinayakan’s final dialogue hinting that his character was connected to a much larger network.
The sequel is expected to expand the world of Muthuvel Pandian, with a huge ensemble cast joining Rajinikanth. Suraj Venjaramoodu and Vidya Balan feature in glimpses from the promo, while Ramya Krishnan, Mirnaa and Yogi Babu are expected to reprise their respective roles.
The film is also reportedly set to feature Hrithik Roshan, Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar and Vijay Sethupathi in cameo appearances.
The music and background score for Jailer 2 are being composed by Anirudh Ravichander, who returns to the franchise after delivering the music for the first instalment.
Rajinikanth’s upcoming projects
After Jailer 2, Rajinikanth will headline Dharman, directed by Ashwath Marimuthu. The film also stars Simran, Raashii Khanna and Yogi Babu in important roles and is being co-produced by Kamal Haasan under Raaj Kamal Films International.
The team recently celebrated Rajinikanth completing 51 years in Indian cinema on the sets of Dharman. The film is expected to release in 2027, although an official release date has not been announced yet.
Rajinikanth is also set to reunite with Kamal Haasan for the tentatively titled KHxRK Reunion, which will be directed by Nelson Dilipkumar.
