Vishwanath and Sons release date update

According to a report by Aakashavaani, Suriya starrer Vishwanath and Sons is now likely targeting the Independence Day 2026 release window. Earlier, the film was reportedly planned for a July release, just two months after Karuppu hit theatres. However, the makers now appear to be considering a later release date. An official confirmation is still awaited.

For those unaware, Vishwanath and Sons revolves around Sanjay Vishwanath, a 40-year-old former international pistol shooting champion struggling to make a comeback while dealing with deteriorating eyesight. The story also explores his emotionally layered relationship with Maddy, a lively young woman nearly 20 years younger than him, who falls in love with him.

Directed by Venky Atluri, the film stars Mamitha Baiju as the female lead, alongside Radikaa Sarathkumar and Raveena Tandon in pivotal roles.

On the work front, Suriya will next be seen in Karuppu, scheduled to release on May 14, 2026. Apart from Suriya, the movie also features Trisha Krishnan and RJ Balaji in prominent roles, along with Indrans, Natty Subramaniam, Swasika, Sshivada, Anagha Maaya Ravi, Supreeth Reddy, and Yogi Babu in supporting parts.

Looking ahead, the actor has also started work on a cop action-comedy tentatively titled Suriya47.
