Mammootty and filmmaker Khalid Rahman, best known for Thallumaala, had earlier collaborated on Unda. Now, after a gap of seven years, the duo is set to reunite for a gangster action film titled Mattancherry Mafia.
Mammootty to headline Mattancherry Mafia
The makers unveiled the project on social media along with its title poster. Alongside Mammootty, the film will feature Premalu actor Naslen K. Gafoor and Kishkindha Kaandam star Asif Ali in key roles.
Sharing the announcement, the team described the project as “the start of something really special” while presenting the title poster of Mattancherry Mafia.
The film is co-produced and directed by Khalid Rahman, with writing credits going to Niyog Krishna, Sharafu–Suhas, and Thasreeq Abdul Salam. Cinematography will be handled by Jimshi Khalid.
On the technical front, Rex Vijayan will compose the songs, while Sushin Shyam will take care of the background score. Editing duties will be managed by Noufal Abdullah, and costumes will be designed by Mashar Hamsa.
Mammootty’s upcoming projects
On the work front, Mammootty will next be seen in Patriot, directed by Mahesh Narayanan. The spy action drama reportedly revolves around a controversial intelligence mission and also features Mohanlal in a key role, marking their on-screen reunion after a decade.
The film also stars Kunchacko Boban, Fahadh Faasil, Nayanthara, Rajiv Menon, and Revathi in important roles. It is expected to release on April 23, 2026, though reports suggest it has been blacklisted by the Kerala Film Exhibitors’ Union due to business-related issues.
The veteran actor has also completed shooting for Padayaatra, directed by Adoor Gopalakrishnan, which co-stars Grace Antony and Indrans.
In addition, he is set to collaborate with Nithish Sahadev and will also appear in Dhanush’s upcoming spy action film, tentatively titled D55, directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, alongside Sreeleela and Sai Pallavi.
