Toxic: A Fairy Tale For Grown-Ups added Rs. 4.50 crore on its first discounted Tuesday, recording a 12 per cent growth over Monday. With this, the Yash starrer’s seven-day Hindi box office total climbed to Rs. 123 crore nett. The film is expected to finish its extended opening week at around Rs. 130 crore.
The Yash-led film is likely to witness significant drops in the days ahead with the arrival of Mirzapur in theatres. Going by the current trends, Toxic could conclude its Hindi theatrical run at approximately Rs. 150 crore nett, subject to its performance over the coming days. While that would be a respectable total for a dubbed release, it falls short considering the film’s massive production budget.
Despite the decent initial numbers, Toxic has emerged as a major disappointment at the box office. The film has failed theatrically, while its financial performance is even more concerning due to its high costs and weak non-theatrical recoveries. As a result, its losses are expected to rank among the biggest recorded in Indian cinema.
