GDN chronicles the remarkable life of Indian inventor and industrialist Gopalaswamy Doraiswamy Naidu, popularly remembered as the “Edison of India.”

The story is set in 1914 and introduces a young Naidu, whose fascination with a British officer’s motorcycle inspires him to pursue his interest in mechanics. After spending his savings on the vehicle, he eventually acquires it and takes it apart to understand how it works.

As the years pass, Naidu builds a thriving bus transport business while continuing to explore his passion for innovation. His ambitions lead to clashes with competitors, while his frequent journeys abroad also create challenges in his personal relationships, including those with his first wife, Chellamma, and second wife, Ranganayaki.

Naidu goes on to establish international business connections, develop an indigenous electric motor, and set up a polytechnic college with the aim of making education more accessible. However, his achievements are also followed by several prolonged conflicts. Even in his later years, he remains committed to his principles and his vision for technological progress.
