Awarapan 2 witnessed a sharp decline in its third week, adding Rs. 5.50 crore nett to its Indian box office tally. The Emraan Hashmi starrer registered an 80 per cent drop compared to its second-week collections. The decline was primarily driven by the growing box office momentum of Hanuman Ansh, while the film itself has also entered the final stage of its theatrical run.
The running total of Awarapan 2 now stands at Rs. 145.75 crore nett in India. With Mirzapur arriving in cinemas today, the romantic action drama is likely to face significant competition and further drops in collections. If it manages to maintain a steady run over the next couple of weeks, the film could reach the Rs. 150 crore nett mark. Otherwise, it is likely to finish marginally below the milestone.
Despite the slowdown, Awarapan 2 has already established itself as a Super Hit at the box office. It has also become the highest-grossing solo release of Emraan Hashmi’s career. The film’s success has come as a major boost for the actor, who had been waiting for a clean hit for quite some time.
Emraan Hashmi will next headline Gunmaster G9, which also stars Genelia Deshmukh and Aparshakti Khurrana. It remains to be seen whether the actor can carry forward this successful momentum with his upcoming release.
