Priyanka Chopra recently spoke about her decision to move from Bollywood to Hollywood, revealing that while the shift opened doors to new opportunities, it also came with emotional challenges. During an appearance on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, the actress explained why she chose to explore the Western entertainment industry after feeling somewhat limited in India.
Priyanka Chopra on leaving Bollywood for Hollywood
According to Priyanka Chopra, the decision to step away from Bollywood wasn’t easy. She admitted that leaving behind a successful career required courage and a willingness to start fresh in a completely new market.
While discussing the move, she also mentioned how personalities like Mindy Kaling and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had already made their mark in global pop culture. Their presence inspired her to explore whether Indian actors could gain stronger representation in Hollywood as well.
Talking about the challenges she faced, the actress said, “Nothing is an easy ride. We all have battles we deal with.” She added that she believes in pivoting when life becomes difficult, even if it means taking time to grieve before moving forward.
Chopra explained that she entered Hollywood with a blank slate, determined to prove herself through hard work. “The only thing I knew was that I’m a hard worker and I know my craft. Put me on a set with any filmmaker or co-actor and I’ll stand toe-to-toe,” she shared.
