Obsession added Rs. 6.75 crore to the tally on its third Sunday, wrapping its third weekend at Rs. 17.75 crore gross. That’s a 15 per cent drop from the previous weekend, which is a phenomenal hold. Interestingly, the Hollywood horror film remained the top priority for the audience this weekend despite multiple new releases.
The running cume of Obsession now stands at Rs. 76.75 crore nett at the Indian box office by the end of its 17 days of theatrical run. Directed by Curry Barker, the horror thriller is likely to close its third week, fetching around Rs. 25 crore, which will take its total cume to the Rs. 85 crore mark.
From there on, the movie will need Rs. 15 crore more to smash the Rs. 100 crore club, which is likely to be achieved in its fourth week itself. That said, Obsession is now on the track to emerge as the No. 1 Hollywood grosser this year, surpassing Project Hail Mary in India.
