Peddi, starring Ram Charan in the lead role, is all set to release in theaters on June 4, 2026. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the sports action drama was initially expected to feature Khushi Kapoor as the female lead before Janhvi Kapoor eventually came on board.
Khushi Kapoor was initially considered for Peddi?
In a conversation with M9 News, Buchi Babu Sana revealed that he had first narrated the film to Khushi Kapoor. However, after meeting her in person, he felt she appeared too young for the role and later decided that Janhvi Kapoor would be a better fit for the character.
The filmmaker admitted that the situation became awkward since he had to reject one sister before approaching the other with the same project. He shared that he even asked Janhvi whether Khushi had been upset about the decision.
According to Buchi Babu Sana, he explained the reason behind the casting choice and clarified that such decisions are made purely in the interest of the film. He also revealed that from the very beginning, he had imagined Janhvi Kapoor in the role while discussing the project with others.
For those unaware, Janhvi Kapoor was introduced as Achiyamma in Peddi. The movie marks her second Telugu project after Devara alongside Jr NTR.
