Rajinikanth’s much-awaited Jailer 2 has officially locked its theatrical release date. The makers have confirmed that the Nelson Dilipkumar directorial will hit cinemas on October 15, 2026, coinciding with the festive occasion of Dussehra.

Jailer 2 gets a release date

The announcement came alongside a gripping 55-second promotional glimpse, which opens with Vinayakan’s closing dialogue from Jailer, hinting that the events of the first film were only a small part of a much larger conspiracy.

Picking up from where the original left off, Jailer 2 promises to follow Tiger Muthuvel Pandian as he faces even bigger threats, backed by an expansive ensemble cast.

The promo also offers blink-and-you-miss-it glimpses of Shiva Rajkumar, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and what appears to be Vidya Balan. Meanwhile, Ramya Krishnan, Mirnaa, and Yogi Babu are confirmed to reprise their roles from the first film.

Adding to the excitement, composer Anirudh Ravichander returns with a powerful remix of the iconic Jailer theme, blending fresh musical elements with the franchise’s signature high-octane style.

Reports further suggest that Mohanlal, Hrithik Roshan, and Vijay Sethupathi could make special cameo appearances. Interestingly, Chiranjeevi’s Vishwambhara is also expected to target a Dussehra 2026 release, setting the stage for a potential festive box office showdown if both films arrive as planned.

Rajinikanth’s upcoming films

After Jailer 2, Rajinikanth is expected to headline Dharman, directed by Ashwath Marimuthu. The action thriller reportedly features the superstar as a doctor and also stars Simran, Raashii Khanna, and Yogi Babu. The film is being co-produced by Kamal Haasan under Raaj Kamal Films International and is reportedly eyeing a Summer 2027 theatrical release.

The veteran actor is also likely to reunite with director Nelson Dilipkumar for the tentatively titled KHxRK Reunion, an action entertainer that is expected to feature Kamal Haasan in a co-lead role. Anirudh Ravichander will compose the music for the project, for which a promotional glimpse has already been unveiled.
