Mollywood Times Kerala Box Office: Naslen’s Film Sees Sharp Monday Drop, Collects Rs 6 Crore in 4 Days

by masalabuzz

Mollywood Times witnessed a significant slowdown on its first Monday, earning approximately Rs. 65 lakh at the Kerala box office. The collection marked a steep 65 percent decline from its opening-day figures, indicating a sharp drop in momentum after the weekend. With this, the film’s four-day total has reached around Rs. 6.15 crore gross.

The Naslen-led drama opened to mixed-to-average audience feedback, which appears to have impacted its theatrical performance. While the film managed to maintain relatively steady numbers over the weekend, it failed to generate the strong word-of-mouth needed for sustained growth and saw a notable decline once the weekdays began.

Going by its current trend, Mollywood Times is likely to conclude its theatrical run below the Rs. 10 crore mark, a result that would fall well short of expectations.

Directed as a satirical take on filmmaking, Mollywood Times revolves around a young aspiring filmmaker determined to become Malayalam cinema’s greatest horror director, drawing inspiration from acclaimed filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan. The story explores his ambitions, struggles, and obsession with achieving that dream, with the film being promoted as a “hate letter” to cinema.

The cast is headlined by Naslen, with Sharaf U Dheen playing a prominent role. Supporting actors include Sangeeth Prathap, Althaf Salim, Roshan Shanavas, Prasanth Alexander, and Rajesh Madhavan. The film also reportedly features special appearances by Basil Joseph and Vineeth Sreenivasan.
