Maniyanpilla Raju confirms Mohanlal-Krishand collaboration

In an interview with Mathrubhumi, Maniyanpilla Raju revealed that the collaboration between Mohanlal and Krishand is moving ahead as planned. He also shared that the makers are aiming to deliver a commercial entertainer reminiscent of Chotta Mumbai.

He said, “When you have an actor like Mohanlal, the screenplay has to be exceptionally strong. We are planning a commercial entertainer along the lines of Chotta Mumbai. Niyog is writing the script, though he is currently occupied with Tiki Taka. The first draft of the screenplay has already been completed, and we are now working on revisions.”

Previously, director Krishand had also spoken about the project in an interview with The New Indian Express. He revealed that the film is envisioned as a grounded detective comedy featuring Mohanlal in the lead, accompanied by a sidekick character.

Mohanlal’s upcoming films

Mohanlal was last seen leading Drishyam 3, directed by Jeethu Joseph. The third installment of the acclaimed thriller franchise featured Meena, Ansiba Haasan, Esther Anil, Murali Gopy, Asha Sarath, Kalabhavan Shajon, and Siddique reprising their roles. Following its successful theatrical run, the film is now streaming on Prime Video.

The veteran actor is currently busy shooting for Athimanoharam, directed by Tharun Moorthy. Co-starring Meera Jasmine, the film is scheduled to release on December 24, 2026, during the Christmas season. While the makers have kept most plot details under wraps, Mohanlal is reportedly playing a police officer.

Apart from that, the actor has films lined up with Vishnu Mohan and Priyadarshan. Although his project with the Oppam director was expected to begin later this year, reports suggest that production has now been pushed to 2027 following screenplay revisions.

Mohanlal has also announced Nedukandam Miracle, which will be directed by Dileesh Pothan.

In addition, he is expected to make special appearances in Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Khalifa, Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2, and his daughter Vismaya Mohanlal’s debut film Thudakkam.
