Mirzapur: The Movie recorded an impressive second day at the Indian box office, earning around Rs. 31.50 crore nett. This represents a healthy 25 per cent increase over its opening-day business and signals strong momentum. More importantly, since the film opened on a holiday, the growth in real-value terms is closer to 60 per cent, which is a remarkable jump and strengthens the film’s prospects for a sustained theatrical run.
The upward movement was visible across most markets, with Maharashtra and Karnataka registering the strongest gains. The Hindi-speaking markets witnessed comparatively moderate growth, largely because the holiday advantage was more pronounced on Friday. Even so, the fact that these territories managed to post an increase on Day 2 is highly encouraging. Gujarat appeared to be heading for a decline during the early part of the day, but eventually finished with growth as well. Bihar was the only circuit to register a drop, which is fairly normal for a film that opens at a high level, particularly when the first day benefits from a holiday.
Delhi-UP continues to be the film’s biggest circuit, with Mirzapur: The Movie recording bumper occupancy at major centres across the territory on Saturday.
With Saturday’s numbers added, the film’s two-day India nett total stands at approximately Rs. 56.50 crore. Sunday advances have also shown a healthy improvement over Saturday, putting the film in a strong position to target around Rs. 35 crore nett on Day 3. If that estimate materialises, the opening weekend could comfortably cross the Rs. 90 crore nett mark, which would be an outstanding result.
The film has already established itself as a SUPER HIT, while a strong hold through the weekdays could potentially take it into BLOCKBUSTER territory.
