Main Vaapas Aaunga collected Rs. 2 crore nett approx on its 2nd Friday. This marks a 75 per cent growth from its opening day last week. The film is let down by showcasing in the second weekend. Given the exceptional increasing trend it displayed over the weekdays, one would expect some sort of expansion, especially with no mega competition, but the film saw its shows halved from the first week. As a result, the film, which, by the way, collected only Rs. 2 crore nett, was facing capacity issues in the prime-time shows across major centres.
There is an increase in shows today, but it’s still lower than the first week. The capacity crunch will be even more today as the advances themselves are at a high occupancy. The film will be hitting what one would say a BUMPER occupancy rate today, but collections won’t be of that level. The good thing is that since occupancies are high, the showcasing will eventually respond to that, and there should be a good amount of spillover in the weekdays and then hopefully next week.
The eight-day running total stands at Rs. 14.50 crore nett approx. The film seems like it can do Rs. 4 crore nett today, and then Sunday should also see growth, meaning it should be around Rs. 23-24 crore nett at EOD Sunday. It is now in a much better position than it was last Friday, when even Rs. 10 crore final seemed like a herculean task. There is still a lot of work to do, but there is a sense of optimism. For now, it seems like film vaapas aa gyi.
