Jailer 2, starring Rajinikanth in the lead role, is reportedly gearing up for a grand theatrical release in September 2026. As anticipation surrounding the sequel continues to grow, fresh reports suggest that the makers are considering Hrithik Roshan for a special cameo appearance in the film.
Hrithik Roshan reportedly approached for Jailer 2 cameo
According to reports from Valai Pechu, the makers of Jailer 2 are currently in discussions with Hrithik Roshan for an important cameo role. Earlier, there were speculations that Shah Rukh Khan was being considered for the appearance. However, the Bollywood superstar reportedly declined the offer due to his ongoing commitments toward King.
Following SRK’s reported unavailability, the team is now said to have shifted focus toward Hrithik Roshan. As of now, no official confirmation has been made by the production team regarding the casting.

Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Jailer 2 serves as the sequel to the blockbuster action entertainer Jailer. The film will reportedly continue the journey of Muthuvel Pandian, reprised by Rajinikanth.
Apart from the superstar, the movie also stars Mithun Chakraborty, Vidya Balan, SJ Suryah, and Suraj Venjaramoodu in pivotal roles. Reports additionally suggest that Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar are expected to reprise their appearances from the first installment.
While the makers are yet to officially announce the release date, industry reports indicate that the film could arrive in cinemas on September 11, 2026.
Rajinikanth’s upcoming projects
On the work front, Rajinikanth is also preparing for the tentatively titled Thalaivar173, which is being co-produced by Kamal Haasan under Raaj Kamal Films International. Although Sundar C was initially expected to direct the film, reports later suggested that Cibi Chakravarthi and subsequently Ashwath Marimuthu were being considered for the project.
The superstar is also expected to reunite with Kamal Haasan for the tentatively titled KHxRK Reunion, which will reportedly be helmed by Nelson Dilipkumar, with music composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
