Actor Suriya is currently busy shooting for his upcoming project, tentatively titled Suriya47, under the direction of Jithu Madhavan. As the film moves toward completing production by June 2026, speculation has been rife about whether it shares a universe with Fahadh Faasil’s Aavesham. Co-star Naslen has now addressed these rumors.
Is Suriya47 linked to Aavesham?
During a conversation with Club FM while promoting Mollywood Times, Naslen clarified that Suriya47 has no ties to Aavesham. He revealed that the film’s shoot is expected to conclude by the end of June but emphasized that, unlike Jithu Madhavan’s earlier ventures, this one is neither set in Bengaluru nor connected to Aavesham or Romancham in any manner.
The action-comedy is said to feature Suriya as an unconventional police officer who heads a group of equally eccentric individuals. Their routine lives take an unexpected turn when they are entrusted with a challenging mission. Naslen plays a key role in the film, while Nazriya Nazim Fahadh stars as the female lead.
Suriya and Naslen’s upcoming projects
Suriya was recently seen in Karuppu, directed by RJ Balaji. The fantasy-action drama revolves around a father and daughter who travel to Chennai for a medical procedure. Their hopes are shattered when the gold meant to fund the treatment is stolen at a railway station.
Although the stolen gold is eventually recovered, they find themselves battling powerful forces led by Baby Kannan. In desperation, the father seeks divine intervention from Karuppusamy, who appears in human form to restore justice and challenge corruption. The film ends by teasing a sequel titled Karuppu vs Vellai.
The cast of Karuppu also includes Trisha Krishnan, RJ Balaji, Indrans, Anagha Maya Ravi, Natarajan Subramaniam, Swasika, and Sshivada.
Before Suriya47 arrives, Suriya will next be seen in Vishwanath And Sons, scheduled for release on August 14, 2026.
Meanwhile, Naslen is gearing up for Mollywood Times, directed by Abhinav Sundar Nayak. The coming-of-age comedy-drama follows an aspiring filmmaker determined to become Malayalam cinema’s greatest horror director, drawing inspiration from M. Night Shyamalan. The story chronicles his struggles, ambitions, and relentless pursuit of that dream.
Co-starring Sharaf U Dheen, Mollywood Times is set to hit theatres on June 5, 2026.
