Rajinikanth is currently in the final stages of filming his much-anticipated project, Jailer 2. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the film serves as a sequel to the 2023 blockbuster Jailer. Recent reports suggest that the makers may have finalized a major OTT deal.
Has Jailer 2 secured a ₹160 crore OTT deal?
According to a report by Lets Cinema, Jailer 2 is expected to have closed a deal worth ₹160 crore with Amazon Prime Video. The report claims that the digital streaming rights were locked in a few weeks ago, following strong interest from multiple platforms competing for exclusivity.
However, there has been no official confirmation from the film’s makers so far. For context, the first installment, Jailer, reportedly fetched ₹75 crore in OTT rights back in 2023. More recently, Coolie is said to have secured a deal worth ₹120 crore. If accurate, Jailer 2 represents a significant leap in digital valuation.

The sequel sees Rajinikanth reprising his iconic role as “Tiger” Muthuvel Pandian. The film features a strong ensemble cast including Mithun Chakraborty, Vidya Balan, SJ Suryah, and Suraj Venjaramoodu. Additionally, Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar are expected to reprise their roles from the original.
There were earlier rumors of Shah Rukh Khan making a cameo appearance. However, due to his commitments to King, he reportedly turned down the offer.
The film recently grabbed attention after a clip was leaked online. The makers have since urged fans not to share the footage, warning of potential account restrictions.
Rajinikanth’s upcoming projects
Following Jailer 2, Rajinikanth is expected to star in a project tentatively titled Thalaivar 173. The film was initially set to be directed by Cibi Chakaravarthi, but recent reports suggest that Ashwath Marimuthu may take over. An official update is still awaited.
The project was earlier associated with Sundar C, who has since exited.
Looking ahead, the superstar is also expected to share screen space with Kamal Haasan in a tentatively titled project, KHxRK Reunion.
