Set in the isolated village of Aanakolli on the Kerala-Tamil Nadu forest border, Kattalan revolves around a community terrorized by a series of deadly elephant attacks. To tackle the crisis, a feared hunter named Maari is brought in to hunt down the rogue elephants. After earning the villagers’ confidence, Maari gradually takes control of the region, cutting it off from the outside world.
Two decades later, Maari has established himself as the ruthless head of a vast ivory smuggling network. His reign is threatened by rival kingpin Eddy, leading to a fierce battle for dominance. To strengthen his side, Maari partners with George D’Peter, who sends the notorious enforcer Antony, also known as Kattalan (The Hunter), to assist him.
Antony quickly wins over Maari’s trusted men and becomes one of his key allies in the war against Eddy’s gang. However, as he uncovers the suffering of the villagers and the large-scale destruction of the forests, his true purpose gradually comes to light.
It is eventually revealed that Antony had infiltrated Maari’s organisation with a secret mission. He turns against the crime lord, dismantling the empire from within in a bid to end Maari’s tyranny and safeguard the region. The action-packed climax not only concludes Antony’s mission but also links the story to the Mikhael Cinematic Universe, paving the way for future installments.
Kattalan serves as a standalone spin-off and the third film in the Mikhael Extended Universe, following Mikhael (2019) and Marco (2024).

The film features Antony Varghese Pepe in the lead alongside Sunil, Kabir Duhan Singh, Jagadish, Dushara Vijayan, Anson Paul, Parth Tiwari, Harishankar Narayanan, Hipster, Hanan Shaah, and others in pivotal roles. It also includes special cameo appearances by Siddique, Alphonse Puthren, and Lokesh Kanagaraj.
Directed by Paul George, the screenplay is co-written by Joby Varghese, Jero Jacob, and Unni R. The film is produced by Shareef Muhammed under the Cubes Entertainments banner. The soundtrack has been composed by B. Ajaneesh Loknath, while Ravi Basrur has scored the background music.
The cinematography is handled by Renadive, with Chandru Selvaraj and Sudeep Elamon serving as additional cinematographers. Shameer Muhammed has edited the film.
