Ramayana Full Cast: Anupam Kher replaces Amitabh Bachchan as Jatayu in Ranbir Kapoor and Yash’s epic

Ramayana is one of the most-awaited Indian films of 2026. The makers recently hosted Pratham Sankalp at New Delhi’s Bharat Mandapam, where they screened a four-minute trailer for a select audience. Alongside the preview, the team also unveiled a special Ramayana comic book introducing the film’s characters and confirming several key cast members.

Anupam Kher to voice Jatayu in Ramayana

While reports had earlier suggested that Amitabh Bachchan would lend his voice to Jatayu, the newly launched comic book has confirmed that Anupam Kher has been cast for the iconic role instead.

Speaking about the much-awaited confrontation between Jatayu and Ravana, director Nitesh Tiwari said:

“Ravan aur Jatayu ka yudh kitna romanchak ho sakta hai, jab aap film dekhenge aap samajh sakte hain.”
(“You will realize just how thrilling the battle between Ravana and Jatayu is when you watch the film.”)

Trailer release date

Following the exclusive showcase at Pratham Sankalp, the official trailer of Ramayana is scheduled to be released worldwide on July 24, 2026. The first installment of the two-part epic is slated to arrive in theatres during Diwali 2026, with the concluding chapter releasing in Diwali 2027.
