Despite the day-on-day improvement, the film has suffered a steep week-on-week decline of nearly 80 percent. After enjoying a strong start during its opening days, the comedy entertainer began losing momentum from the middle of its first week, with fresh releases further impacting its theatrical business.
The Akshay Kumar starrer is now expected to end its third week with around Rs. 6.5-7 crore nett, reflecting a drop of roughly 75 percent compared to its second week. Ideally, the film would have aimed to sustain itself like Bhooth Bangla, but its trend has ultimately fallen behind even Housefull 5. Based on its current trajectory, Welcome To The Jungle is likely to conclude its theatrical run at around Rs. 135 crore nett in India, lower than earlier expectations.
After its impressive Monday hold, the film appeared to be on course for a Hit verdict. However, its subsequent decline has made that outcome unlikely. Even so, it remains a commercially successful venture, largely because of its controlled production costs despite carrying the established Welcome franchise. Had the film been mounted on a budget comparable to Housefull 5, profitability would have been far more difficult. At the same time, considering the popularity and legacy of the Welcome brand, the overall box office collections are somewhat underwhelming.
The original Welcome was among the biggest blockbusters of its era, while its sequel also opened strongly and finished with impressive numbers despite Akshay Kumar not featuring in the lead role. Viewed against that benchmark, the latest installment has fallen short of expectations.
