Imtiaz Ali’s Main Vaapas Aaunga continued its stable theatrical run by collecting an estimated Rs. 1.25 crore on its third Wednesday, registering nearly a 25 percent decline from the discounted Tuesday collections. With this, the film’s total domestic collection has reached Rs. 48 crore nett.
The romantic drama is now on course to cross the Rs. 50 crore nett milestone by its fourth Friday, provided it maintains its current trend.
Despite entering its fourth week, the Diljit Dosanjh, Naseeruddin Shah, Vedang Raina, and Sharvari starrer has managed to hold reasonably well. The film is steadily moving toward a successful theatrical run and still has an outside chance of achieving HIT status if it continues to perform consistently over the next few weeks.
However, sustaining momentum won’t be easy. The film is set to face stiff competition from upcoming releases, including Alpha and Dhamaal 4. To reach its projected lifetime total of Rs. 65–70 crore nett, it will need to maintain a healthy hold despite the crowded release calendar.
Its overseas performance also remains an important factor. Owing to limited international showcasing, the film’s global earnings have been restrained. Considering the positive audience reception, a USD 4–5 million finish may have been possible with wider distribution, but USD 3 million now appears to be a strong and achievable target.
