Cocktail 2, starring Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Rashmika Mandanna, and directed by Homi Adajania, maintained a good hold in its 2nd weekend. The movie collected Rs. 4 crore on its 2nd Saturday, witnessing a 23 per cent spike from the previous day. The movie dropped by 75 per cent in week-on-week comparison.
The running cume of Cocktail 2 now stands at Rs. 71.25 crore nett at the Indian box office. The movie will surpass the Rs. 75 crore mark by the end of its 2nd weekend. It is likely to make a sum of around Rs. 16 crore in its 2nd week, which will take its total cume to Rs. 80 crore or so.
Based on current trends, the Shahid Kapoor starrer is looking to wind up its entire theatrical run around Rs. 85-90 crore nett at the Indian box office. That will be a good total for the film. However, these numbers (not collections) should be taken with an asterisk, as the movie is being aided by the external factors.
The original film was released in 2012, and it collected around Rs. 74.50 crore nett and emerged as a Clean Hit venture. Though the sequel will cross this figure, it will end up much lower if the OG collections are adjusted for inflation.
