Saif Ali Khan has spoken at length for the first time about the stabbing incident that took place at his Bandra residence in January 2025, recalling the terrifying moments when an intruder entered his home and attacked him. In a candid conversation, the actor admitted that the ordeal left him fearing for his life.

Saif Ali Khan Recalls the Knife Attack at His Home

Speaking to Barkha Dutt on Mojo Story, Saif Ali Khan recounted how the incident unfolded after one of the household staff rushed to alert him about an armed intruder inside his younger son Jeh’s room.

According to the actor, the man had entered the house through a bathroom window. Recalling the moment, Saif said, “The nanny came and told us, ‘Jeh baba ke kamre mein koi aaya hai, uske haath mein churi hai, usko paisa chahiye.’ When I entered the room, he was holding the baby. He had already injured the baby slightly and had also hurt the maid.”

Saif revealed that he instinctively confronted the intruder without giving himself time to think.

“Something just took over me, and I jumped on him. We got into a fistfight. He started attacking wildly with the knives, and there was blood everywhere. He wasn’t physically very big, but two knives are still two knives. Then our maid came in, picked him up, and threw him across the room,” he recalled.

The actor sustained six stab wounds during the attack, including one dangerously close to his spine. Looking back at the horrifying moments, Saif admitted he genuinely feared he might not survive.

“I was wearing a white kurta-pyjama that was completely covered in blood, and at one point, I was lying on the floor. I thought I might die,” he shared.

Saif also spoke about an emotional conversation with his elder son, Taimur, before leaving for the hospital.

“I wanted Taimur to come with me. When I asked him, he looked at me and said, ‘Are you going to die?’ I told him, ‘No,’ and we went to the hospital together,” the actor said.

Despite the traumatic experience, Saif revealed that he has tried to find compassion for the attacker. He said he believes the man may not have initially intended for the situation to escalate into violence.

“I even wanted to forgive him because I think he made a terrible mistake and probably wasn’t looking for a fight. I could forgive him for that, but the fact that he tried to kill me is something I still find difficult to move past. I also think incidents like these are rooted in the inequality that exists between the haves and the have-nots,” Saif said.

The accused was arrested three days after the attack and was identified as Mohammad Shariful Islam, a Bangladeshi national.
