The horror genre continues to enjoy a strong resurgence among audiences, with both Indian and international films finding significant success at the box office. From titles like Shaitaan and Bramayugam to global releases such as Obsession, Backrooms, and Sinners, horror has emerged as one of the most sought-after genres in recent years.
Amid this growing trend, Jacqueline Fernandez is all set to venture into the horror space with her first out-and-out horror film.
Jacqueline Fernandez finds her ideal horror project
According to sources close to the development, Jacqueline had been exploring opportunities within the horror genre for quite some time and was waiting for the right script to make her entry.
A source revealed, “Jacqueline Fernandez was keen to explore the horror genre with the right script. What appealed to her most was the film’s unique blend of horror, emotion, and music. It offers a complete theatrical experience rather than being confined to a single genre.”
The yet-to-be-titled project will feature Jacqueline in the lead role, marking a new chapter in her filmography.
Details being kept under wraps
While Jacqueline’s involvement has been finalized, the makers have reportedly locked two male actors to star alongside her. However, the identities of the cast members, as well as the director, are being kept confidential for the time being.
The film is being mounted on a grand scale by Khyati Madaan’s Not Out Entertainment, with an official announcement expected in the coming weeks.
Teaser and song already completed
Sources further suggest that the production team has already completed filming a teaser and a song for the project. Meanwhile, the actors are currently participating in workshops as part of the preparation process.
Principal photography is expected to commence shortly, with the makers aiming to begin filming by the end of this month.
Jacqueline’s previous experience with the genre
Although Jacqueline has previously appeared in Bhooth Police, that film was positioned as a horror-comedy and offered a lighter take on supernatural elements. This upcoming venture, however, is said to be a pure horror film, making it her first true entry into the genre.
On the professional front, Jacqueline was most recently seen in Housefull 5. She is next set to appear in Welcome To The Jungle, which is scheduled to release in theatres on June 26, 2026.
With horror continuing to dominate audience preferences, all eyes will be on Jacqueline Fernandez as she takes on one of the most challenging and exciting genres of her career.
