Being the son of a global superstar like Shah Rukh Khan comes with immense expectations and constant comparisons. However, Aryan Khan has chosen a different path, steering away from acting to establish himself behind the camera as a filmmaker.
How Aryan Khan is shaping his own journey
For years, Aryan maintained a low profile, pursuing his education in film and television production in the UK and later in the US. Unlike many expected, he didn’t step into acting but instead entered the industry with a clear vision—to direct and create content on his own terms.
Making his debut as a director, writer, creator, and showrunner with The Ba***ds of Bollywood, Aryan quickly proved his capabilities. The series received widespread recognition at the Pinkvilla Screen & Style Icons Awards 2026, where he won the Best Director (OTT) award.
The show also bagged the Best Series (OTT) honour at the same event. Additionally, actor Lakshya, who portrayed Aasmaan Singh, earned the Best Actor Male Popular Choice (OTT) award for his performance.
From child actor to filmmaker
Interestingly, Aryan’s association with acting dates back to his childhood. He appeared as a toddler version of Rahul Raichand in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, originally played by Shah Rukh Khan, and also had a brief appearance in Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna.
He further explored performance through voice work, dubbing for the character Tez in the Hindi version of The Incredibles alongside his father.
Beyond films
Apart from filmmaking, Aryan is also an entrepreneur, co-owning a premium lifestyle and beverage brand. On the personal front, he has been linked to Brazilian model and actor Larissa Bonesi.
Looking ahead, Aryan is reportedly working on his next projects, including a potential feature film with Shah Rukh Khan. While he focuses on completing the script of his second film, his journey so far clearly reflects his intent to build a legacy of his own—distinct from yet inspired by his father’s iconic career.
