Awarapan 2 continued its strong run at the Indian box office on Wednesday. The Emraan Hashmi-led romantic action drama collected around Rs. 6 crore nett on Day 6, registering a 36 per cent decline from Tuesday. Its six-day India nett total now stands at Rs. 106 crore.
Backed by Vishesh Films, the film is expected to finish its opening week at around Rs. 112 crore nett. The success has made Awarapan 2 Emraan Hashmi’s biggest solo grosser, with only Tiger 3 ranking ahead among his films, where he appeared as the antagonist.
The movie is also expected to benefit from a strong second weekend, with no major new release competing for screens. It has a clear run until August 26, when Yash starrer Toxic arrives in cinemas. Its ultimate box office potential will largely depend on how well it holds during the second week.

Awarapan 2 is a sequel to the 2007 film, which initially failed at the box office but later developed a cult following. The success of intense romantic dramas with popular music in recent times helped revive interest in Emraan Hashmi’s signature genre, and the sequel has now turned that gamble into a major theatrical success.
