Vishwanath And Sons, starring Suriya in the lead role, is slated to release in theaters on August 14, 2026. Directed by Venky Atluri, the upcoming film has already generated curiosity among audiences, and the filmmaker recently revealed that actress Jyotika offered valuable feedback and suggestions after hearing the script.
Venky Atluri Reveals Jyotika’s Suggestions for Vishwanath And Sons
Speaking with Behindwoods, Venky Atluri revealed that Jyotika was among the people he narrated the film to and that she was particularly impressed by the first half.
“One of the important narrations of Vishwanath And Sons was to Jyotika ma’am. She loved the subject and was happy, especially the first half. Jyotika ma’am gave a few suggestions for the film. I narrated the script to many, but the feedback I got from Jyotika ma’am was very helpful. I’ll mention what all changes she suggested after the film’s release,” the filmmaker said.
Venky also expressed confidence that audiences would leave theaters feeling satisfied after watching the film. According to the director, viewers would feel that the story was not morally wrong and would walk out of the cinema with a sense of satisfaction.
Venky Atluri on Mamitha Baiju’s Casting
The filmmaker also recalled the reaction to Mamitha Baiju’s casting when the project was first announced. Venky said that he came across memes, reels, and Reddit comments questioning how Mamitha could be paired opposite Suriya.
However, he revealed that only he and Suriya knew the reason behind her casting at the time. According to the director, the audience’s doubts were cleared after the teaser was released.
The makers recently unveiled the film’s second single, The Wedding Song. Composed by GV Prakash Kumar, the track has been sung by Suriya, while actor-director Ken Karunas has penned the lyrics.
What Is Vishwanath And Sons About?
The film follows Sanjay Vishwanath, a 40-year-old former international champion who attempts to make a comeback despite his failing eyesight. The story explores his complicated relationship with Maddy, a vibrant woman 20 years younger than him who falls in love with him, leading to a series of emotional conflicts.
Alongside Suriya, the film features Mamitha Baiju, Radikaa Sarathkumar, and Raveena Tandon in key roles.

The actor has also announced his 48th film with director TJ Gnanavel, which features Kayadu Lohar as the female lead.
