Vishwanath & Sons witnessed a significant decline on Tuesday after recording an average Monday at the Indian box office. The Suriya and Mamitha Baiju starrer earned around Rs. 6 crore on Day 5, taking its five-day total to Rs. 81.50 crore gross in India. Based on the current trend, the film is expected to finish its first week at around Rs. 90 crore.
However, considering the film’s production cost, the current theatrical performance remains underwhelming. The movie has also slipped below the Rs. 2 crore mark in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday, which is a disappointing trend for Suriya’s home market. The film has effectively turned into a flop in the territory.
Day-wise box office collections of Vishwanath & Sons are as follows:
| Day | Gross |
|---|---|
| Friday | Rs. 17.75 crore |
| Saturday | Rs. 26.00 crore |
| Sunday | Rs. 23.25 crore |
| Monday | Rs. 8.50 crore |
| Tuesday | Rs. 6.00 crore |
| Total | Rs. 81.50 crore |
The Suriya-led film continues to perform strongly in the Telugu-speaking states, which have contributed the highest share with Rs. 34 crore so far. If the movie maintains its hold in AP/TS, it could potentially register a successful run there, although that alone may not be sufficient to recover its overall theatrical prospects.
Featuring Mamitha Baiju alongside Suriya, Vishwanath & Sons now needs a major turnaround in business to stay competitive at the box office. Suriya had delivered a blockbuster earlier this year with Karuppu, but the current film’s performance indicates a return to the levels seen before that success.
Territory-wise box office collections of Vishwanath & Sons:
| Area | Gross |
|---|---|
| Tamil Nadu | Rs. 31.00 crore |
| AP/TS | Rs. 34.00 crore |
| Karnataka | Rs. 9.75 crore |
| Kerala | Rs. 5.75 crore |
| Rest of India | Rs. 1.00 crore |
| India | Rs. 81.50 crore |
