Nayanthara-Kavin’s Hi Set for August 14 Release; To Face Box Office Clash with Suriya’s Vishwanath And Sons

Hi, featuring Nayanthara and Kavin in the lead roles, is an upcoming romantic drama that marks the directorial debut of lyricist and former Lokesh Kanagaraj assistant director Vishnu Edavan. The makers have now officially announced that the film will arrive in theatres on August 14, 2026.

The makers recently released a special promo announcing the release date of the Nayanthara and Kavin starrer. The romantic film is scheduled to hit the big screen on August 14, 2026, and has been awarded a U/A certificate.

The promo showcases a simple conversation between the lead characters and gives viewers a glimpse of their contrasting personalities.

Since Hi is scheduled to release during Independence Day week, the film will face a box office clash with Suriya’s Vishwanath And Sons, which also stars Mamitha Baiju.

Hi is said to be a romantic drama centred on the relationship between two tenants residing in the same apartment building. The film is helmed by Vishnu Edavan, who previously worked as an assistant director with Lokesh Kanagaraj. Jen Martin has composed the music and background score, while Rajesh Shukla has handled the cinematography and Philomin Raj is serving as the editor.

For the unversed, Vishnu Edavan is also a popular lyricist and has contributed to several films, including Rajinikanth’s Coolie and Thalapathy Vijay’s Master and Leo.

Nayanthara’s upcoming films

Nayanthara will next appear in Yash’s upcoming action drama Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups, directed by Geetu Mohandas. Set against the backdrop of a stylised underworld, the film features Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi, and Rukmini Vasanth in key roles. Akshay Oberoi, Sudev Nair, Amit Tiwari, and several other actors are also part of the cast.

The makers recently released the film’s second single, Manamohaka, which features Yash and Tara Sutaria.

Toxic is a Kannada-English bilingual film and is also scheduled to release in several other Indian languages. The movie is slated to hit theatres on August 26, 2026, while its trailer is expected to be launched on August 8 at an event in Bengaluru.

Apart from this, Nayanthara also has films such as Dear Students and Mookuthi Amman 2 in the pipeline. She will also be seen as a co-lead alongside Salman Khan in his upcoming film directed by Vamshi Paidipally.
