Mirzapur: The Movie continued its strong run at the Indian box office on Tuesday, collecting approximately Rs. 15 crore nett. With this, the film’s five-day cumulative collections have reached around Rs. 123 crore nett.
The film witnessed a drop from Monday, which is a natural progression through the weekdays. However, Tuesdays have recently seen stronger business due to discount days, or even the audience’s expectation of discounted ticket prices. While the lower ticket prices generally bring additional footfalls that can compensate for the reduced average ticket price, that was not quite the case with Mirzapur: The Movie.
The film recorded footfalls on Tuesday almost on par with its opening day and around 2 lakh higher than Monday. However, the lower ticket prices meant that the additional audience did not translate into a higher gross, resulting in collections coming in slightly below Monday.
Mirzapur: The Movie eyes Rs. 150 crore first week
The early signs for Wednesday remain encouraging, with advances almost on par with Monday. The walk-in business is expected to be somewhat lower, meaning the film could still see a drop in collections. However, the decline is likely to remain controlled compared to the sharper drops witnessed by some recent releases.
Mirzapur: The Movie is currently on course to cross Rs. 145 crore nett in its first week. If Wednesday records a strong hold, the first-week total could move closer to the Rs. 150 crore nett mark.
The film’s overall trajectory continues to point towards a BLOCKBUSTER verdict. However, the Wednesday hold will be an important indicator, while the second Friday hold will ultimately determine whether the film can cement that status.
