Vijay Sethupathi and Sai Pallavi are set to headline an upcoming romantic film directed by Mani Ratnam. According to recent reports, the highly anticipated project may begin filming soon.

Vijay Sethupathi and Sai Pallavi’s Film With Mani Ratnam to Begin Shooting From July 23?

According to Movies Singapore, Vijay Sethupathi and Sai Pallavi’s upcoming film with Mani Ratnam is expected to go on floors on July 23, 2026. The first schedule is reportedly set to begin in Kolkata, where the team is expected to shoot for around 10 days.

Following the Kolkata schedule, the team is reportedly likely to move to Puducherry for the next leg of filming. A portion of the story is said to be set overseas, but Mani Ratnam may recreate those locations on a virtual set. Reports further suggest that the entire shoot could be completed in approximately 40 days. However, the makers have not officially confirmed these details.

The project was earlier announced by Madras Talkies under the tentative title Production No. 23. AR Rahman is set to reunite with Mani Ratnam and is expected to compose both the songs and background score.

According to reports, the film’s digital rights have been acquired for a reported ₹20 crore. The overseas distribution rights have also reportedly been sold, while the audio rights are said to have fetched a significant amount.

Vijay Sethupathi’s Upcoming Projects

Vijay Sethupathi will next be seen in the lead role in Slum Dog: 33 Temple Road. Directed by Puri Jagannadh, the action film also stars Samyuktha and Tabu in prominent roles.

The actor has also announced Pocket Novel, which is being directed by Thiagarajan Kumararaja. The film marks the actor and director’s second collaboration after Super Deluxe and also features Malavika Mohanan and Raj B. Shetty.

Additionally, Vijay Sethupathi is part of Arasan, which stars Silambarasan TR in the lead role. He is expected to portray a police officer in the film. Directed by Vetrimaaran, the project is reportedly a spin-off set in the Vada Chennai universe.

Meanwhile, Sai Pallavi will be seen as Sita in the upcoming Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Yash in the lead roles.
