Main Vaapas Aaunga continued its impressive run at the box office by recording a strong jump on its third Saturday. The Imtiaz Ali directorial collected Rs. 4.10 crore, registering a healthy 55 percent growth over Friday’s earnings. With this momentum, the film is expected to wrap up its third week with Rs. 10-11 crore, taking its cumulative domestic collection close to the Rs. 45 crore milestone.
Main Vaapas Aaunga Records Strong Growth on Third Saturday
Starring Naseeruddin Shah, Diljit Dosanjh, Vedang Raina, and Sharvari, the romantic drama is showing encouraging trends in its third week. Backed by positive word of mouth, the film has maintained a steady hold and is now comfortably heading towards the Rs. 50 crore nett mark, which it is expected to surpass during its fourth weekend.
If the current trend continues, Main Vaapas Aaunga is projected to conclude its theatrical run with collections in the Rs. 65-70 crore nett range. Under normal circumstances, such a total would place the film in the hit category. However, its relatively high production costs and modest collections during the initial two weeks could impact its overall profitability, as distributor share from these numbers may not be as strong as usual.
Although reaching the Rs. 65-70 crore mark is not guaranteed, the film remains on track to achieve it, provided it continues to sustain similar weekday and weekend collections.
The overseas performance will also play an important role in the film’s overall box office outcome. So far, Main Vaapas Aaunga has earned approximately USD 1.50 million internationally despite limited showcasing. Given the positive reception, the film may have had the potential to finish in the USD 4-5 million range under wider distribution. At present, however, a lifetime overseas total of around USD 3 million would still be considered a solid result.
