Lucky Baskhar 2 is officially on the way, with director Venky Atluri confirming that the sequel to Dulquer Salmaan‘s 2024 blockbuster is part of his future plans. However, the filmmaker said fans will have to wait a little longer as he has other projects lined up before returning to the franchise.
Venky Atluri confirms Lucky Baskhar 2
In a recent conversation with The Hollywood Reporter India, Venky Atluri revealed, “Lucky Baskhar sequel is there in my line-ups. I need a couple of years for that as I have another two commitments before that. Lucky Baskhar 2 is a huge responsibility, which I have to explore in many ways. I’ll start it in two years. Before that, I’ll do Dhanush sir’s film, which is a cop story, and another one is a proper kids’ film like the ones from Disney and Home Alone.”
Released in 2024, Lucky Baskhar is a black comedy heist drama starring Dulquer Salmaan and Meenakshi Chaudhary. The film follows Baskhar, a middle-class bank cashier struggling with financial hardships while supporting his family.
After enduring repeated setbacks and humiliation, Baskhar gets drawn into financial scams that transform his fortunes. The story explores his rise, the consequences of his choices, and whether his intelligence can help him escape the web he creates.
The cast also includes Tinnu Anand, P. Sai Kumar, Ramki, Raghu Babu, Maanasa Choudhary, Sarvadaman D. Banerjee, Kalyani, Sachin Khedekar, Kasi Viswanath, and others in pivotal roles. Following its critical and commercial success, the film is currently streaming on Netflix.
Dulquer Salmaan’s upcoming projects
On the work front, Dulquer Salmaan will next be seen in I’m Game, directed by Nahas Hidayath. The action entertainer is scheduled to hit theatres on August 20, 2026.
The actor also has Sri Sri and Aakasam Lo Oka Tara in his upcoming lineup.
