When and where to stream Karuppu
The film is set to make its OTT debut on Prime Video on June 12, 2026. The streaming platform confirmed the release through its official social media channels, teasing the premiere with the caption, “God mode ON.”
In addition to Tamil, the movie will also be available in Telugu under the title Veerabhadrudu, along with dubbed versions in Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada.
Plot overview
Karuppu revolves around Mattancherry Sukumaran and his daughter Binu, who travel to Chennai for a medical procedure. Their lives take an unexpected turn when the gold meant to pay for the surgery is stolen. Although the police eventually recover the valuables, reclaiming them becomes a complicated battle against a flawed system.
Seeking assistance, Sukumaran turns to lawyer Baby Kannan, also known as BK. However, the corrupt advocate has his own selfish motives. Left with no options, Sukumaran prays to Vettai Karuppu, a guardian deity whose idol stands within the court premises.
Answering his plea, Karuppusamy takes human form and steps in to confront injustice. But BK challenges the deity to fight corruption and reform society without relying on divine powers. As the battle intensifies, Karuppusamy joins forces with Preethi and attempts to create a world where dishonesty and wrongdoing become impossible.
The story builds toward a dramatic showdown, where BK makes one final attempt to manipulate the system. In response, Karuppusamy transforms into Kaaval Karuppu and delivers justice in spectacular fashion.
The film concludes with a post-credit tease for a sequel titled Karuppu vs Vellai while also connecting the story to RJ Balaji’s earlier film LKG.
