When and Where to Watch Mollywood Times

Mollywood Times will make its OTT premiere on JioHotstar on July 3, 2026. The streaming platform confirmed the release through its official social media handles, describing the film as “A love-hate letter to Malayalam cinema.”

Official Trailer and Plot of Mollywood Times

The film revolves around Vineeth Madhavan, a young aspiring filmmaker from Kuttikkanam whose biggest dream is to become Malayalam cinema’s finest horror director. Inspired by acclaimed filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan, Vineeth believes his distinctive storytelling can breathe new life into the horror genre despite his father’s repeated warnings about the harsh realities of the film industry.

His journey begins with making short films before gradually progressing toward directing his first feature. Along the way, he encounters professional rivalries, industry politics, creative conflicts, ownership disputes, and the constant struggle to protect his artistic vision. While his confidence drives him forward, it also creates personal and professional obstacles that test his resilience.

As his ambitions grow, Vineeth increasingly finds himself in conflict with an industry he feels rewards conformity over originality. His relentless pursuit of recognition forces him to confront the sacrifices that come with chasing creative excellence, ultimately making him question his ideals, relationships, and purpose.

The film is reportedly inspired by The Fountainhead and also draws from director Abhinav Sunder Nayak’s own experiences in the film industry.
