Manoj Bajpayee has reacted to the ongoing controversy surrounding Ranveer Singh and Don 3. Speaking at the trailer launch of his upcoming film Governor, Bajpayee expressed hope that the matter would eventually be resolved amicably. Recently, FWICE announced their stand regarding Ranveer Singh following his reported last-minute exit from Farhan Akhtar’s ambitious Don reboot. The decision came after the dispute between the actor and the makers escalated within the industry.
Reacting to the situation, Bajpayee said many people within the film fraternity are only aware of the controversy through media reports and social media discussions. According to the actor, there is still limited clarity regarding the issue between Ranveer and Excel Entertainment.
“I must tell you one thing, that all the people who are in this industry, they are only reading it on social media and we don’t have the detailed information about it. But all we can say as colleagues or as fellow fraternity members that we hope that the matter is sorted out soon,” Bajpayee said.
Don 3, which was officially announced as a reboot of the popular franchise, has reportedly been in development for nearly three years. Although filming had not begun, the producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani allegedly claimed that over Rs. 45 crore had already been spent on pre-production and related preparations.
Following the directive, Ranveer Singh issued a statement through his spokesperson addressing the controversy. The actor maintained that he continues to hold respect for everyone associated with the project and the industry.
“Throughout the recent developments surrounding ‘Don 3’, he has consciously chosen to maintain silence, believing that professional discussions and personal equations are best handled with dignity, maturity and mutual respect,” the statement said.
