Alyy Khan Praises Talha Anjum For Waving Indian Flag, Cites Diljit Dosanjh’s Example; Criticises Aryan Khan’s Netflix Series For ‘Forced’ Profanity | MasalaBuzz
Pakistani-British actor Alyy Khan, known for his work across India, Pakistan, and the UK, has weighed in on the recent controversy surrounding Pakistani rapper Talha Anjum, who went viral after waving the Indian flag at a concert in Nepal. The gesture sparked debate online, but Alyy Khan called it a “beautiful” act that represents the human connection between the two countries—beyond politics and borders.
In the same conversation, Alyy also used Diljit Dosanjh as an example of true professionalism and integrity, praising the singer-actor for completing and supporting his film Sardaar Ji 3 despite facing a ban in Pakistan at the time.
At the same time, the actor didn’t shy away from criticising Aryan Khan’s Netflix series, Bads of Bollywood***, calling its excessive profanity “forced” and “not family-friendly.”
Alyy Khan applauds Talha Anjum’s gesture
While speaking on ARY’s podcast, Alyy Khan was asked what he thought of Talha Anjum waving the Indian flag during his Nepal concert—an action that stirred reactions on social media.
Alyy responded instantly:
“Bahut achcha kiya.”
“This is what a true Pakistani is.”
He explained that art and artists thrive on human connection, not political barriers. The actor said that whenever he travels for work—whether in India or Pakistan—he receives deep love and appreciation.
“When I go to India, people appreciate my work. No one says, ‘He’s a Pakistani, throw a shoe.’ There is so much love on both sides.”
Using Diljit Dosanjh’s example: “He didn’t back off”
Alyy then highlighted the example of Diljit Dosanjh, who completed his film Sardaar Ji 3 even when the project faced complications back home.
“He did the film, he owned it. Mukra nahi. He didn’t run away from it.”
Alyy added that despite the film not even releasing in India, Diljit stood by his work—knowing the financial loss he would suffer.
Alyy Khan slams Aryan Khan’s Netflix series for ‘forced profanity’
The conversation then shifted to Aryan Khan’s directorial debut, Ba**ds of Bollywood*, a show that quickly became the centre of discussion for its bold portrayal of the industry and excessive use of cuss words.
Alyy Khan said he found the show:
“Weird… You can’t watch it with your family.”
“The language felt forced and unnecessary.”
He questioned whether the characters portrayed in the show would truly use such slang in real life.
“Do these kinds of people really speak in sadak-chaap language? I doubt it. Even if abuses are needed, they must be organic. Here, every frame is filled with them—it becomes boring.”
Viveck Vaswani earlier criticized the show too
Alyy’s opinion follows similar concerns raised by Shah Rukh Khan’s longtime friend Viveck Vaswani, who questioned the show’s messaging and its portrayal of Bollywood as a toxic world.
Vaswani expressed disappointment over the show’s tone, asking why Bollywood was being shown as a “gutter,” especially by someone from Shah Rukh Khan’s home team.
Art Beyond Borders: The Common Thread
Despite the controversies, Alyy ended the discussion on a positive note, highlighting how art continues to bridge India and Pakistan in meaningful ways. Whether through:
Talha Anjum waving the Indian flag
Diljit Dosanjh respecting cross-border collaborations
Artists receiving love from audiences across nations
…the actor believes true creativity thrives when artists rise above division
