Alpha Box Office: Alia Bhatt and Sharvari’s spy actioner earns Rs 85 lakh on second Tuesday, nears end of theatrical run

by masalabuzz

Yash Raj Films’ spy action drama Alpha, starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, collected an estimated Rs. 85 lakh on its second Tuesday, registering a healthy 30 per cent jump over the previous day’s collections. Directed by Shiv Rawail, the film has now amassed Rs. 52.35 crore nett at the Indian box office.

The film is expected to conclude its second week with a domestic total of around Rs. 55 crore nett before entering the final phase of its theatrical run. Going by its current trend, Alpha is likely to end its lifetime run in the Rs. 55-60 crore nett range. While the figure is respectable by the standards of recent women-led films, it remains underwhelming for a title belonging to the prestigious YRF Spy Universe.

Female-led action films have historically found it difficult to attract large theatrical audiences in India, making Alpha a challenging project from the outset. The film also arrived at a time when the YRF Spy Universe had lost some of its momentum following the underwhelming performances of Tiger 3 and, more notably, War 2. Against this backdrop, Alpha managing a decent theatrical run can be viewed as a small positive. However, commercially, the film is still expected to incur significant losses due to its high production cost.

One aspect that deserves appreciation is Yash Raj Films’ commitment to transparent box office reporting. Much like War 2, the studio has refrained from indulging in artificial inflation of collections or questionable industry practices. In an era where such tactics have become increasingly common, YRF continues to accept both success and failure with professionalism, setting a benchmark for the industry.
