Alpha Box Office: Alia Bhatt and Sharvari’s Film Earns ₹45 Crore in Its First Week

Alpha collected Rs. 2-2.25 crore nett approx on Thursday at the Indian box office, and with that, it closed its first week at just over Rs. 45 crore nett. The Alia Bhatt – Sharvari starrer had a decent opening on Friday last week and managed to stay afloat over the weekend. However, the mixed audience reception caught up with the film on Monday, triggering a sharp decline. The downward trend continued through the weekdays, with business eventually settling at low levels.

The film faces stiff competition from Dhamaal 4 this week, which shall lead to a further drop in business. It is expected to close somewhere between Rs. 55-60 crore nett in India.

Alpha faced an uphill battle right from the outset. Historically, female-led action films have struggled to attract audiences at the Indian box office, making this a risky proposition to begin with. The challenge was further compounded by the YRF Spy Universe being at a low ebb following the underperformance of Tiger 3 and, more significantly, War 2. The fact that this film, with everything going against it, has managed to get off the ground is a minor positive to go with. Ultimately, it’s about money rather than positives, and money this film will lose, heavily.

The production also needs to be commended for not indulging in the feeding and other nonsense that goes around these days. It was the same during War 2 as well, and that film had a lot riding on it. Yash Raj Films, the premier production house of the Hindi film industry, continues to lead by example in these dark days, refusing to indulge in such malpractices regardless of the outcome and accepting success or failure with equal grace.

The Day Wise Box Office Collections of Alpha in India are as follows:
Day Nett
Friday Rs. 9.00 cr.
Saturday Rs. 11.50 cr.
Sunday Rs. 12.50 cr.
Monday Rs. 3.50 cr.
Tuesday Rs. 4.00 cr.
Wednesday Rs. 2.50 cr.
Thursday Rs. 2.10 cr.
Total Rs. 45.10 cr.
