Alpha Box Office: Alia Bhatt and Sharvari’s Film Earns ₹33 Crore in Its Opening Weekend

Alpha collected Rs. 12.50 crore nett approx on Sunday, wrapping its opening weekend at Rs. 33 crore nett approx at the Indian box office. The Alia Bhatt fronted film had a fair opening on Friday, and over the weekend, it managed to avoid crashing, despite having mixed reports. The trend over the weekend was not great per se, but it managed to post growth on both Saturday and Sunday.

While these numbers are not enough for the costs and scale involved, when looked at in isolation, they are acceptable, good even. The film faced an uphill battle right from the outset. Historically, female-led action films have struggled to attract audiences at the Indian box office, making this a risky proposition to begin with. The challenge was further compounded by the YRF Spy Universe being at a low ebb following the underperformance of Tiger 3 and, more significantly, War 2. The fact that this film, with all going against it, has managed to take a start is a positive to go with.

The production also needs to be commended for not indulging in the feeding and other nonsense that goes around these days. It was the same during War 2 as well, and that film had a lot riding on it. Yash Raj Films, the premier production house of the Hindi film industry, continues to lead by example in these dark days, refusing to indulge in such malpractices regardless of the outcome and accepting success or failure with equal grace.

The Day Wise Box Office Collections for Alpha in India are as follows:
Day Nett
Friday Rs. 9.00 cr.
Saturday Rs. 11.50 cr.
Sunday Rs. 12.50 cr.
Total Rs. 33.00 cr.
