The anticipation surrounding Ramayana continues to soar as fresh updates from the makers keep fans excited. While audiences await the release of the first installment this Diwali, Ranbir Kapoor has shared new details about the franchise’s future. The actor revealed that Ramayana Part 2 is already halfway through filming, even before the first film has reached theatres. He also teased that the sequel will be grander in scale, with Sunny Deol’s Lord Hanuman playing a far more significant role.
Ranbir Kapoor says Ramayana deserves a 10-part film series
In an interview with The Direct, Ranbir Kapoor opened up about the challenge of adapting one of India’s most celebrated epics for the big screen. Reflecting on its vast narrative, he said, “Honestly, Ramayana is a story that could easily be told over 10 films. Condensing such an expansive epic into just two parts has been one of the biggest creative challenges.”
Ranbir also explained that he never felt the need to modernize the story. He said, “A timeless tale like Ramayana doesn’t require reinvention. It has endured for more than 4,000 years, and Lord Rama continues to inspire millions across the world. The values it represents—courage, righteousness, compassion, forgiveness, and the triumph of good over evil—remain relevant even today.”
The actor also confirmed that filming for the sequel is progressing rapidly. “We’ve already completed around 50 percent of Part Two even before the first film is released because it’s one continuous story,” he shared.
Ranbir further promised that Ramayana Part 2 will surpass the first installment in both scale and entertainment. He also revealed that Sunny Deol’s portrayal of Lord Hanuman will take on a much larger role as the story moves toward its epic climax.
